Scott Dawson, Lyons School

Picture
Scott Dawson has been working at E.G. Lyons school since the 2012-2013 school year after moving to Massachusetts from Texas.  Mr. Dawson teaches general music, band, and choir at the Lyons school.   He was teaching music privately in Texas previously, as well as being the orchestra director at Cesar Chavez Middle School in Waco Tx.  As the orchestra director, he was the recipient of a grant by the Waco ISD Educational Foundation, making sure that every student who wished to play in the orchestra had an instrument provided to them at little cost to their family.
Scott Dawson completed his undergraduate work in Music Education at Slippery Rock University, PA.  While there he performed with both school and community orchestras as well as several jazz ensembles which culminated in a two week tour of five European countries, including performances at the prestigious North Sea Jazz Festival in Holland and Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.  After completing college, Mr. Dawson toured the country as the bassist in a Rock/Roll group for a year, including performing as the opening act for legendary blues musician Buddy Guy.
Scott Dawson is currently a member of the bass section in the Brockton Symphony, working on a Graduate degree in Music Education from Bridgewater State University and the proud father of a baby girl born on March 25th 2013 and another baby girl born on November 19th 2015.
